A day in the Imfolozi on a Cat hunt with the Retreaded Hippy

Greetings fro EuroZulu’s retreaded Hippy. The name is Rick and I am the “general factotum” of the team. Spent the day in the Park today with Guests. At pickup, they informed me that all they were missing was Lions!! And could I find them some please!! No pressure, right?? Some days you don’t get lucky, and some days you do. Today I did. Found a pride of 6 lions within 30 minutes of entering the park ( we arrived at 05h00)!! Spent an hour following these lions around then headed off for breakfast. What do I do for the rest of the day!! It got better. Found 5 hyenas arunning around with a buffalo leg bone! The way there were arguing provided some light relief!!

O.K. now what?? Off to lunch. Couldn’t get my favourite spot, so headed off to another one. As we approached the main road, the impala were going crazy – barking, snorting and staring at a bush. Next thing a cheetah bursts out the bush and lunges into the chase. The Impala explode in different directions and the Cat misses!! But what a moment! Lunch was a very quiet affair!

Just another average day in Africa! What a wonderful place to be and how priveledged we are to be here.
